Monika Shontz is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and experienced healthcare professional. Monika currently provides individual adult therapy. She has experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma, grief and loss/complex bereavement, family systems, life-transitions, depression, anxiety, and other stress related disorders. Monika has worked in a variety of settings including inpatient psychiatric hospitals, Hospice, and outpatient therapy settings.
Monika’s approach to therapy is rooted in the belief that everyone has their own unique experiences that influence the way they story their lives and navigate life's challenges. Her collaborative approach creates a safe environment where she can hold space for an array of situations that might lead someone to come to counseling. As each person is different, her approach is tailored to each client's strengths, barriers, and communication style. Monika offers strategies, tools, and support that assist in improving overall quality of life. She utilizes multiple different therapeutic modalities and techniques such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused therapy, Mindfulness, and Trauma Informed modalities.
Monika earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
